Freelance Radio Presenter
Location: Hanchurch, Stoke-on-Trent

Are you a Christian with significant experience as a music format radio presenter?

UCB is looking for freelance presenters who could provide occasional cover for various programmes on UCB 1 and UCB 2.

The Broadcast Centre is close to Stoke-on-Trent (ST4 8RY) and you would need your own transport.

The role would involve presenting live programmes – usually midweek – and may also include recording other programmes and promotional spots.

A genuine interest and working knowledge of contemporary Christian music is vital.

Experience of RCS Master Control and/or Zetta would be invaluable.

This vacancy is not for an inexperienced or trainee presenter so you will need to illustrate your track record and provide a suitable showreel, along with your CV.

Receptionists (Casual basis only)

UCB’s Broadcast Centre has a lively and busy ‘front-of-house’ Reception desk. Our receptionist takes calls, answers queries, greets guests and assists with other administrative jobs, such as looking after the post and responding to listener’s emails and texts. It’s a busy and rewarding role and we’re looking to build up a bank of casual receptionists, who can be called on at short notice, to cover holiday or sickness cover. The ideal candidate will have a flexible schedule and will be able to work at very short notice. If you’re a natural ‘people person’ and can easily multi-task in a busy environment, this could be the ideal flexible role for you. If selected, we will add you to our roster of staff who can be called on, when needed.

Broadcast Volunteer - Morning Show
Location: Hanchurch, Stoke-on-Trent

If you are enthusiastic, organised, a creative thinker and would love to get involved in a national Christian media charity, then we have a great opportunity for you!

We are looking for a volunteer to help plan and produce of the morning radio show on UCB1. You could be helping to: book interviews, research stories, write links for the show, devise competitions, prepare, edit & load interviews, update twitter, provide online content, write news stories and maintain essential records. The opportunity to interact with listeners means good verbal and written communication skills are essential, as are good administrative skills.

This volunteer opportunity would be ideal either as a part-time open ended placement or a‘gap’ year which comes with the possibility of free accommodation. If you are interested but worried you might not have the skills, we can tailor the role to fit with your experience and all the internal training you need will be given by our professional staff.

Volunteer TV Editor/Compliance
Location: Hanchurch, Stoke-on-Trent

Do you have time on your hands; are you looking for something worthwhile and fun engage with?

UCB is looking to recruit a volunteer TV Editor to assist with the preparation and editing of programmes, conferences and promotions to be aired on the UCB TV player app. You will be helping to ensure that all programmes meet OFCOM requirements; packaging or re-packaging programmes from suppliers and those created ‘in-house’ and creatively editing promotional materials and ‘in-house’ productions. You may also be required to assist other areas of the TV team on occasion. The role will include the opportunity to be involved in the various elements of programme production, in both studio and on location productions

The ideal volunteer will have a sound knowledge of editorial and production processes as well as operational experience with database systems, a creative flair, excellent proof reading skills and be able to demonstrate accuracy with attention to detail. The ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise a busy and diverse work load is essential as are strong and confident communication skills both written and verbal.

If you are prepared to give us some of your time then we will provide you with an opportunity to learn from our experienced staff, observe first-hand how a media organisation operates, hone your transferrable skills and strengthen your walk with God.

For those living outside of the North Staffordshire area, onsite accommodation may be available if you are prepared to commit to volunteering for 12 months on a full time basis.

Social Media Videographer
Location: Hanchurch, Stoke-on-Trent

Volunteer Social Media Videographer

Got a passion for video and photography? If you’re into recording every moment, coming up with clever ways to capture an atmosphere and love nothing more than perfecting the best edit, this could be the role for you.

The UCB Social Media team have a full time opening, for a Volunteer Videographer. The Social Media team works to produce, share and respond to great content. We’re all about conversation, so if you love a good natter (tea is provided free in the office too) then you could be the one we’re looking for.

You’ll need to be able to shoot, edit and produce content for lots of different social media platforms. Whether it’s a behind the scenes video on one of our TV shoots, or a quick in-the-moment video of an artist at our Stoke-On-Trent studios, you’ll be put to work on a variety of projects. This role will be based at our Hanchurch site, but you’ll need to be up for travelling to wherever the action is – this could be on location with our TV team, at an event or even at an outside broadcast for our radio stations. You’ll take part in our creative meetings (and, not to boast, but sometimes they involve doughnuts) and you’ll learn how to produce compelling content for corporate social media streams. If you’re organised, ready to learn and have some creative flair, then we want to hear from you.

This voluntary placement would be ideal for a recent graduate in a media, photography or relevant qualification, or as a year out before embarking on further training or education. Click here for more information

Radio Broadcast Assistants

Radio Broadcast Assistants – Volunteer Positions
An exciting opportunity to gain experience in radio
UCB is looking for two creative volunteers to join the radio team in 2016, gaining experience across general programmes as well as news and current affairs.
You will have the opportunity to work directly with the whole team, covering a range of activities, including:
• Researching stories and generating programme ideas for presenters
• Finding and booking guests
• Recording interviews and creating audio packages (using Adobe Audition)
• Assisting the news and current affairs team
• Taking calls from listeners
• Helping at outside broadcasts and events

You will learn to manage a diverse workload as well as develop a capacity for clear thinking in order to deal with a live radio environment.

Engaging with social media will be part of this role, so knowledge/experience would be useful.

Successful volunteers will need a good eye for an interesting story. You should also have good communication skills, both written and verbal using both telephone and email.

You need to have a passion for Christian radio. An interest in contemporary Christian music would be helpful. You would be expected to be an ambassador for Christ and to participate in prayer with the wider team.

If you are able to be prepared to commit to your time with UCB, we will provide you with an opportunity to learn from our experienced staff, observe first-hand how a media organisation operates, hone your transferrable skills and strengthen your walk with God.

This position is based at our Broadcast Centre in Hanchurch, Stoke-on-Trent.

Volunteer Social Media Content Developer

The UCB Social Media team have a full time opening, for a Social Media Content Developer. The Social Media team works to produce, share and respond to great content. We’re all about good conversation, so if you love talking to new people, coming up with clever ideas and just generally having your finger on the pulse, then you could be the one we’re looking for.

Community management and a creative spark come hand in hand in this role. You’ll need to be able to write and source content for lots of different social media platforms. You’ll be ready to chat to people about all the great stuff UCB has to offer, and you’ll be willing to point them in the right direction when they have questions. Whether it’s a promotional post for one of our events, or creating an opportunity for people to get in touch with us about what’s on air, you’ll need to come bursting with ideas and original concepts.

This position would be ideal for a recent graduate in media, digital media, or relevant qualification.
